Kriti Wali | Community markets provide access to affordable commodities without having to travel to the central part of the city and promote a healthy & self-sufficient ward.
Project description
Project idea
The idea is to introduce Community markets at 5 locations that have been identified in the ward-based on various factors such as proximity to residential zones, diversity of the population, accessibility & proximity to hawker zones.
Need for the project
This ward is missing one of the most essential civic realms of Markets, which adds life, character, and a sense of belonging to a city. Due to the traffic issues in the city, the travel time to reach markets outside the ward has increased, which has discouraged people from going to markets and sticking to supermarkets or hypermarkets, which do not offer interaction or affordable commodities. Community markets would make the ward self-sufficient.
Objective of the project
1) Ensure interaction among the diverse population 2) Organize the vendors or street hawkers 3) Provide an inclusive public place 4) Availability of affordable commodities 5) Activate the surrounding, eliminating fear locales 6) Serve as Landmarks in these areas, making the ward more legible
