Pravallika Enaganti | As a major transport node, the metro station plinth can serve to integrate the various aspects of the urban fabric present, easing the user journey.

Project description

Project idea

The idea is to design the plinth of a metro station to integrate it into the surrounding urban scape while catering to the needs of the public and by doing so, increasing the efficiency of the user journey through the station as well as to this public transport mode.

Need for the project

The approach to the design aspect of the metro station area as a part of the surrounding neighbourhood has been clearly neglected which has brought to light concerns such as unauthorized parking, a lack of attention to bicycle lanes and pedestrian movement and road damage. When reworked and redesigned, the impact could facilitate better connectivity and regulated traffic flow as well as making the area more public friendly.

Objective of the project

To merge the public transit with the existing urban pattern of the environment around it by reimagining the relation with existing elements of the urban structure such as other public transport modes and the prevailing activities undertaken by the public in the vicinity.
