People Friendly Urban Streets

Updated: Jun 27, 2020

Yashwanth MK | As the project title suggests I would like to improve the sustainability and activity by converting roads into the pedestrian street

Project description

Project idea

The intent would be to convert a vehicular road along the residential area to pedestrian pathway, providing a designated space for hawkers and vendors also by integrating parks, lakes, and pedestrian pathways to improve accessibility and visibility.

Need for the project

Presence of low-income housing around the area. The hawkers and vendors are scattered along the AECS main road obstructing the footpath and road itself which causes a lot of congestion. Also, there is no activity for any user group. Poorly maintained parks and lakes are rather unattractive than inviting.

Objective of the project

Providing a pedestrian-friendly street and also activating it by allocating designated space for hawkers and vendors, Integrating park, lake and pedestrian pathway.
