Vinay R | Street vending is an important source of livelihood for the urban poor, providing in-expensive products at convenient locations and increase the vibrancy of the market.
Project description
Project idea
The main idea is to come up with the most efficient models for maximizing the holding capacity of the vendor zone, based on existing literature as well as new designs. The needs of other street users like pedestrians, motorists and consumers have also been taken into account.
Need for the project
As the project title explains, there is a need for proper designated vending and hawking zones in the ward. Integrating hawking as an activity on the streets leads to Urban Beautification. It also gives the vendors a sense of employment security and increases the sales while ensuring that the provision of space or area for street vending is reasonable and consistent with existing natural markets.
Objective of the project
Since this place would expect many large crowds, it should ideally have common open spaces in between along this vendor platform to operate with complete freedom.
