Project idea
The project aims to address the issues of the developing towns in the ward that have to lead to the loss of cultural character due to rapid urbanization.
Need for the project
Doddanekundi Ward is the culmination of multiple villages facing rapid urban development. Known best for its an abundance of IT parks and Institutes - the ward attracts an assemblage of people every year looking for work.
By addressing challenges faced by the town on an urban scale the intervention seeks to accomplish the goal of making the chosen area a role model for the rest of the districts to follow.
Objective of the project
The objective of the intervention is to revive the cultural identity of Doddanekundi town.
Objective Include Revitalization of the lake by making it an integral part of the town, The issue of hawker encroachment by better facilitating them and emphasizing the cultural and social interactions.
Project site details

Site selection criteria
1. First criteria: Largest lake in the ward
2. Second criteria: Retains and Cherishes its cultural identity the most
3. Third criteria: Close proximity to the IT sector hence giving a larger demographic of people
4. Fourth criteria: Able to address multiple issues with the same site
Site details

Area of the site - 79200 sqm
Main access roads are Outer Ring Road , Doddanekundi Main Road, Lake View Road
Key features are Densely populated stretch with multiple commercial activities taking place along the main spine, lack of basic footpaths or green cover and encroachment of the road by hawkers and commercial parking leading to congestion in the high activity area. There are multiple high activity nodes as well as temples in the town
