Surya S | The growth pattern of cities result in areas which are developed, used and active interspersed with ‘pockets’ that are left undeveloped or underdeveloped
Project description
Project idea
Voids are identified and regarded as an integral part of the urban fabric for urban re-development. They have the potential to act as mediators between the existing and the new. Space functions as a generator for creative and entrepreneurial expressions.
Need for the project
Urban voids can effectively bridge the gap between the existing and the new so as to provide continuity in the urban fabric. They can form a flexible layer of spaces in the otherwise ‘fixed’ urban fabric that lends itself to be interpreted and used by the local populace as per their needs and requirements and build a local pattern of positive urban spaces. These spaces need to be recognized and articulated for a sustainable urban system.
