Harshini G | " Resource should be an asset to the Local Community!" Farming creates a great impact by providing interactive spaces to grow healthy food to fuel healthy communities.
Project description
Project idea
The idea is to promote social and environmental justice. Exploiting the value of a neighborhood for that neighborhood by ingeniously enriching the vacant land with waste wood/food products to have a rich farm. Employ local people to produce healthy food the community needs.
Need for the project
By 2050, it is believed that the world’s population will be 10 billion that means 70% more food required. Our very well being depends on a healthy, sustainable, and plentiful food supply. Bringing the farm into the city eliminates these problems. We need a production system that has its goal “health of a local community”. A lot of urban voids in the ward which are underutilized gives us the potential to develop them into something resourceful.
Objective of the project
This project takes underutilized spaces and transforms them into places of community empowered food production. Engages the community through horticultural training programs while supporting neighborhood gardens & a new form of recreational activity spaces as well as educating locals about "food importance"
