Lekha | Urban agriculture in combination with a farmers market will a low people to have more immediate connection to their food, as well as help stimulate a local economy.

Project idea
The whole idea is to decentralize the whole aspect of food produce with the help of urban agriculture which is carried out by setting up farms within the urban fabric of the ward.
Need for the project
The ward has undergone a staggering amount of urbanization in the past few years which has led to rapid growth in the population, due to this there are many adverse effects in the food industry like shortage of food, decrease in the food quality. These issues can be solved by introducing urban agriculture in the ward.
Objective of the project
The aim is to meet the basic issues by reworking on the whole aspect of food production and distribution by augmenting the food demand in a much more decentralized manner. This project has a lot of benefits that will help in the betterment of the ward.
Project site details

Site selection criteria
1. Large and clean open land with suitable soil conditions. 2. The sites chosen are close to major gated communities and residential layouts. 3. Well connected to the ward by a good road network and transportation facilities. 4 Located near a lake which can be used as a source of water. 5. Presence of commercial zones around the site enables for buying and selling the produce easily. 6. A mix of different land uses in the neighbourhood will help in interaction and mix of cultures between people. 7. Presence of existing farm lands. 8. Presence of slums/labour housing in the neighbourhood will help in easy access to labour.

Area of the site -(55000 sqm)
Main access roads are outer ring road and Doddanekundi main road.
Key features are :
-Present on the north portion of the Doddanekundi lake, abutting the jogging/walking track. -Railway track runs parallel to the site
