Experiencing Doddanakundi: on a bicycle

Updated: Jun 26, 2020

Sriharini B | Creating a prototype for a network of cycle-ways that is safe, convenient and enjoyable.

Project description

Project idea

Weaving a network of cycle-ways through the existing urban fabric, Aiming to connect people from their homes (residential zones) to their workplaces. (IT clusters) Not only benefiting the cyclists themselves but the whole society they come into contact with..

Need for the project

There is a lot of traffic congestion, accident-prone zones in our ward. Cars, motor vehicles dominate the streets. Streets lack a "human" scale. Commutes to work are stressful. cyclists and pedestrians fear to use the roads. Air pollution levels are on the rise. Streets lack proper infrastructure and are used merely as a commute from A to B, lacking any culture or character of the city.

Objective of the project

+Connect people from home to work (cluster of IT park: EPIP zone) through cycle lanes

+Enabling people to feel safer on streets.

+Increasing the amount of rich green cover for enjoyable rides.

+Nurturing a symbiotic relationship between hawkers/local businesses and cyclists through strategic positioning
