Project description
Project idea
The project aims at re-thinking Rajakaluves in a new light as it is the most neglected part of the landscape and club it with another prominent issue the ward faces which is traffic congestion by introducing a sustainable network of bike lanes and part pedestrian pathways.
Need for the project
To ease mobility for the residential neighbourhood in and around the lake.
To connect the residential areas near the lake to the nearest bus-stop.
To rejuvenate the lake and rajakaluve so that it can integrate with the streetscape aesthetically.
To promote sustainable transport by promoting the use of bicycles.
To provide a safe and economically friendly transport system.
To ease traffic congestion on the main road.
Objective of the project
To introduce pedestrian-friendly roads and an efficient bicycle network system and to integrate it with the rajakaluve network to promote sustainable and economically friendly transport and to connect the two major roads in the ward with an efficient bicycle system.
Project site details
Site selection criteria
1. First criteria : It would be better for parallel/interior streets to be chosen for implementing bicycle lanes.
2. Second criteria : This area has the biggest lake in the ward and the main rajakaluve network.
3. Third criteria : Site should have
multiple access points.
4. Fourth criteria : Site should have multiple entry points.
5. Fifth criteria : Connects 3 major bus stops on the outer ring road to the HAL main road.
6. Sixth criteria : Site must favour minimum vehicular movement.
Site details
Area of the site - 118000 sqm
Main access roads are - Main access roads are Outer ring road, Doddanekundi main road and HAL main road.
Key features are - Site is close to the Doddanekundi lake, IEDB mall, Bagmane tech park, HAL management academy, ISRO Space science instrumentation facility.
