Rethinking Connectivity and Restoration of Doddanekundi Lake

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

Suha Taranum | Lakes are an important part of an urban ecosystem as they play a major role in the environmental, social and economic services.

Project description

Project idea

The design strategy involves uplifting the water quality and improving the physical dimensions of the lake. It also involves understanding the socio-cultural fabric, the urban context, the ecological impact, economic viability, political will, and community participation.

Need for the project

The Doddanekundi Lake is one of the bigger lakes in Bangalore, but is not well-known nor is it in good shape. Frequented primarily by those living nearby, it’s not easy to reach. The lake is covered by weeds in many parts. There is a walking path around it and two isolated islands inside.

Objective of the project

The main objective is to improve the sustainability of urban recycling, to sustain the development of an urban built environment, and to provide the emotional experience of users.
